The Game UN:Me: An Cerebral Horror Merging Silent Hill with Among Us Mechanics

The recent Day of the Devs digital showcase unveiled several intriguing future games, but one especially has captured attention: UN:Me. Created by Historia and Shueisha Games, this solo experience appears to fuse together the dread-filled setting of a Silent Hill title with the paranoid deduction heart of Among Us.

"This is a unique experience where a girl containing several human souls within her must escape from a maze of the psyche," explains producer Yasukazu Kawai.

Stepping Into a Shattered Consciousness

In UN:Me, players take control of an unnamed heroine seeming to be of teenage years. Within her exist four distinct souls, each with unique fears and motivations. These entities can seize control at will, releasing their innermost phobias upon her without warning.

Based on showcased footage, much of the action takes place within a eerie medical facility, though additional clips depict the main character exploring a abandoned chapel.

A World of Personal Horror

"What makes you fearful of? What causes you uneasy?" asks game director Shun Sasaki. "High places. Small rooms. People in power. Elements that seem trivial to other people can trigger a deep instinct inside us. This game delves into that concept — fears that are specific to every individual."

The central mechanic involves managing whichever soul surfaces at a particular time. However, these identities will change involuntarily during gameplay. During exploration, each soul's fears become exaggerated and assault the girl in succession. When the soul changes, so does the particular terror the player experiences.

Eerie Aesthetics and a Fatal Choice

Initially, UN:Me displays striking aesthetic parallels with the Silent Hill franchise. The setting is filled with orderlies all sporting the same face, with unnervingly wide smiles. Figures in the lobby have enormous flowers growing from their necks are. Floral motifs are a recurring theme, juxtaposing natural beauty with supernatural dread.

Yet, UN:Me introduces a singular twist. Players are tasked with deducing which of the four entities haunting the heroine is the "true" one. "All four souls asserts that the body is rightfully them," notes a creator. "During the game, you need to figure out who is real."

After a player have deduced a persona is fake, they must eliminate it. But, because each soul can deceive or hide the reality, it is incredibly simple to make a mistake.

"Maybe you've already destroyed the true [soul] by your own actions," a voice suggests. "The final entity standing could be a fake. Either way, your choices are final."

UN:Me does not yet have a confirmed launch window, but it is can be wishlist on platforms.
