Public Health Alerts Forecasters issued a warning that Friday's conditions posed an "higher threat for heat illness" for those at risk. Their recommendations suggested: Keeping well-hydrated. Limiting outdoor activities during the afternoon hours of the day. Ensuring you do not leave kids or animals unattended in a car. An Extreme Weather Swing This dramatic increase in mercury arrives just after a massive winter storm that pummeled the area recently. That storm brought heavy snow, strong winds, and thunderstorms to mountainous regions, leading to flash flood warnings for many residents. Sadly, the conditions also resulted in a deadly avalanche in the Lake Tahoe area, which left nine people dead from. Temperatures Easing Looking ahead a cooldown is coming. The heat were expected to decrease to around 61°F (16°C) in the city by overnight. Other locales that hit 90°F featured Burbank, Woodland Hills, and Long Beach. Additionally, Westwood, Camarillo, Santa Maria, and Oxnard were projected to experience the upper eighties. In the coming days, central LA can expect readings in the 80s, with cooler weather likely for the start of March.
