Ex- Physician Charged with Assault Charges Against 38 Individuals in His Care

Prosecutors have announced that a former doctor now faces charges for committing assaults involving 38 victims who were patients.

The Serious Allegations

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of sexual offences – comprising some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.

A senior CPS official said, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

Scope of the Investigation

These allegations come after what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.

Spencer will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.

The charging documents outline the 45 sexual offences comprise:

  • Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
  • Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
  • Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
