🔗 Share this article Among Avatar: The Last Airbender's best installments receives its own MTG collector's set. Usually, summary installments are loathed among audiences as an unnecessary time filler, or at best accepted as a requirement for shows in the era of weekly production. This wasn't always the case, though Avatar: The Last Airbender demonstrated this via "The Ember Island Players," a cherished segment from its final season now being receiving a dedicated Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair drop. Highlights of the collector's edition The full Secret Lair superdrop for the upcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender set was revealed earlier this month. This includes five separate collections, and even though the one called "My Cabbages!" is an admittedly humorous tribute to Avatar's beloved recurring figure, the remaining sets feel a bit lacking creativity, aside from one remarkable entry: "The Ember Island Players." Based on the seventeenth episode from season 3 of Avatar: The Last Airbender, this Secret Lair contains these specific cards: 1x Phantasmal Image as "Absolutely Accurate Actor" 1x Braid of Fire 1x Cursed Mirror 1x Mask of Memory 1x Thespian's Stage The reason this segment stands out Audiences of the series warmly cherish this episode, which acted as a summary of the protagonist Aang and his friends' quest before the series' finale. Unlike standard summary installments, or "clip shows," "The Ember Island Players" wasn't motivated due to production constraints or creative challenges. The show's makers truly wanted to give fans a moment to revisit the overall plot, but they decided to do it creatively. Throughout the segment, the main characters view a play based on their journeys in a theater located on Ember Island, titled The Boy in the Iceberg. The whole thing is factually incorrect, cheesy, and overall hilarious. It excels since it plays with the heroes' understanding about themselves, contrasting them with how the world (and notably the Fire Nation) views them. It contains an ideal level of introspective humor, and it results in possibly the finest interpretation of the show we have had. Worth and pricing Regarding worth, this represents an excellent Secret Lair because of one major element: Braid of Fire. This card is valued between $20 and $40 through card retailers currently, and for $29.99 you can acquire the full set, or $39.99 for the premium foil treatment. Magic: The Gathering's Avatar: The Last Airbender collection is available for advance previews beginning November 14 and releases worldwide on Nov. 21.
